disorientation...
sunday morning 10.00am...
i stumble out of the house with a splitting headache... hangover....
i think last night went well, everyone seemed to have a good time, lots of food, wine and conversation flowed freely... why did i think that last whiskey was necessary though?
i walk through the portico of the church and see a donkey, saddled up with one of those old-fashioned side basket arrangements, tied up outside the door of the church... i stop and wonder what that could be about, and one look at the donkey's patiently resigned face tells me that he's not really sure either...
i continue on and round the corner into the plaza... there's a group of people gathered around a vehicle down one end... something about them is strange, but my fuddled brain fails to make any likely connections... what are they doing?
i stop and peer at them, trying to make sense of it all.... two men, dressed smartly in olive-green military uniforms, and crazy little shiny pointy hats step out from behind the truck and salute each other....
my heart literally misses a beat, and a feeling of panic washes over me.... i still can't make sense of the scene in front of me and i feel very scared.... this can't be happening... maybe i should go back home and book a ticket to the land of oz... NOW?!
then i see the guy with the camera... they're shooting a scene from a civil war film in the plaza...

Shee-it! I'd have had a moment's adrenalin rush too, hangover or no hangover, the way things are around here at the moment.
Definitely a heart-stopping moment!
Waking up dazed in the middle of a period movie set has got to be very disconcerting. Great blog post material, though!
Scary stuff! And a hangover too, can't be good.
hi, you have nice blog.. u can view also mine..http://akoniwares.blogspot.com
brings back memories of the tank at the end of our street during the attempted coup in Valencia a few years ago.
or, more to the point, the time when we were watching military tank manoevres in the Dukeries training area in Britain when suddenly Ivanhoe and some of his knights appeared on the scene.
There would be a pair of my pants that near saw the laundry.
Ooh, how interesting - but yes, scary too!
pg: i suspect the adrenalin rush might have been somewhat stronger without the hangover!
ellie: yes... that will teach me to wander around the town early on a sunday morning!
erik: very disconcerting
cogitator: i should be old enough to know better about hangovers by now, but sadly, i'm not!
chris: yes, except the tank you saw was the real thing!
@eloh: luckily i managed to keep my pants clean
jan: welcome! yes at least i can say it's never dull around here!
