fun fact...
it is possible to completely submerge a hairdryer in water, let it dry out for a day or two and then use it again without giving yourself a cheap home perm in the process...
tried and tested here in the land of no spice...

habm: darling can you come here for a moment? we have a problem...
in the bathroom i find him gazing anxiously at the bidet... the drains seem to be blocked and all the water from the washbasin has emptied itself into the bidet... my hairdryer (which is normally left lying in the bidet*, because i'm a slattern, remember?) is sort of half floating at the top...
me: do i look like a plumber? call a plumber and throw away that hairdryer while you're at it...
habm: no, no... we'll dry it out and it'll be as good as new...
me: (withering look) ...
habm: no, really...
me: are you trying to kill me?
habm: don't be silly darling, i'll dry it out and it'll be fine, you'll see
me: over my dead body will i use a hairdryer that's been submerged in water... elementary science: water + electricity = VERY BAD... if you're so keen, you try it first and tell me how that works out for you...
habm: well obviously it's not safe to use now...
me: do i look like i'm stupid? you're trying to kill me...
several days later habm plugs in the hairdryer... i keep a safe distance... and you know what, the bloody thing works!

That is fucking hysterical.
I am going to take a photo of my bidet for you right now. It will be posted shortly.

I don't think that dry water conducts electricity.... :)
Lol! Glad you didn't electrocute yourself, so you can go on entertaining us with more funny posts. We have a bidet too, but we do actually use it for its intended purpose on occasion. ;)
ellie: thanks for the photo, makes me feel better about my tendency to chuck everything in the bidet!
santcugat: well, when you put it that way...
mother theresa: thanks! although the danger of being electrocuted or being killed by an unfortunate bit of diy in this house is ever present!!
